BREAKING NEWS: Afro-American ACCOUNTABILITY Check
US Rep. Maxine Waters’ cries for criminal justice is spot on. There is still an urgent need to confront institutional, systemic, and racially discriminatory police practices. We need to advocate for changed police training and increased recruitment of Afro-American law enforcement candidates. However, we must face the stark reality of TOO MANY shootings and other acts of violence occurring daily in OUR Franklin County communities. Currently, Columbus is almost double prior years murder rates with approximately 66 homicides thus far this year.
As an Afro-American community, we must take the shooting/violence/killing “BULL” by the horn to stem, if not stop, the rash of killings and violence in OUR communities. MOTHERS, FATHERS AND NEXT of KIN must step up to the “ACCOUNTABILIY” plate to see that their children, 18 and under, are appropriately nurtured, provided for, educated, and otherwise protected from all hurt, harm and danger.
Parental duty of “ACCOUNTABILITY” cannot be left to foster homes, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts Junior Achievement, and others. African American parents must become accountable for the acts and behaviors of their own children.
